App Store Screenshot Sizes (2026): every iPhone, iPad, Mac, Watch & TV size

Every App Store Connect screenshot size in one place: which iPhone and iPad sizes are required in 2026, accepted resolutions, file rules and how scaling works.

Updated 7 min read

Apple accepts screenshots only at exact pixel sizes, grouped into display classes. You upload one set per class you support and App Store Connect scales it down for smaller devices. This page lists every class from Apple's current App Store Connect specification, which classes are required, and the file rules that get uploads rejected.

Quick answer: what you must upload

iPhone · Dynamic Island (medium)1206 × 2622 or 1179 × 2556Required for every iPhone app
iPad · 13-inch2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732Required if the app runs on iPad
iPhone · Dynamic Island (large) — 6.9″1320 × 2868, 1290 × 2796 or 1260 × 2736Optional, recommended
Mac2880 × 1800 (16:10)Required for Mac apps
What changed in 2026
The required iPhone class is now iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display) — the 6.3″ size used by iPhone 17 / 17 Pro. Previously the 6.9″ or 6.5″ set was the required one. If you only have Pro Max screenshots, add a 1206 × 2622 set before your next submission.

iPhone screenshot sizes

All sizes are portrait; each class also accepts the same dimensions rotated to landscape. When a class is missing, App Store Connect falls back to the scaled screenshots of the class named in the last column.

iPhone Duo (foldable) classes

Apple's specification now also lists two classes for the foldable iPhone: outer display 1398 × 2034 and inner display 2007 × 2853 (both also in landscape). Inner-display screenshots earn an optimized badge on the product page, and Apple says outer-display screenshots will be required starting April 2027 for apps built with the iOS 27.1 SDK or later. These screens are much wider than a regular iPhone, so design a dedicated set rather than letterboxing your phone screenshots.

If your app is universal you must ship iPad screenshots; uploading stretched iPhone screenshots is a common reason for a Guideline 2.3.3 rejection (“screenshots should show the app in use on the device”). iPad layouts also have more room — use it for a multi-column view or a landscape set.

File format & upload rules

  • Formats: .png, .jpg or .jpeg.
  • No alpha channel and no transparency — even a fully opaque PNG saved with an alpha channel can fail. Export RGB.
  • Count: 1–10 screenshots per display class, per localization.
  • Orientation: portrait or landscape, but keep a set consistent.
  • Color: sRGB is the safe choice; Display P3 is accepted.
  • Content: screenshots must show the app in use. Marketing captions and device frames are fine; screenshots that are only splash screens, logos or title art are not.
  • App previews (videos): up to 3 per class, 15–30 seconds.

How Apple scales screenshots

App Store Connect only needs the highest required resolution: “If your app's user interface is consistent across multiple device sizes and localizations, you only need to provide screenshots for the highest required resolution.” Smaller devices get scaled versions. Two practical consequences:

  1. Upload a 6.9″ set too if your audience is mostly Pro Max users — otherwise they see an upscaled 6.3″ image.
  2. Per-locale overrides work the same way: a localization without its own screenshots shows the primary language's set. Localized captions only appear if you upload localized images.

Common rejection reasons

  1. Off by a few pixels. 1320 × 2870 is not 1320 × 2868. Resize to an exact size — our screenshot size checker tells you which class an image matches.
  2. Alpha channel. Design tools often export PNG with alpha. Flatten it or use the resizer with “remove transparency”.
  3. Wrong scale. Exporting a 393 pt frame at 2x gives 786 px — use 3x for iPhone.
  4. iPhone images in the iPad slot, or Android device frames in App Store screenshots.
  5. Prices or “free” claims in screenshots that may change — Apple asks you to keep metadata accurate (Guideline 2.3).

A fast workflow

  1. Capture raw screenshots on the 6.3″ and 13″ simulators (they're the required classes) with a clean 9:41 status bar — see how to get a clean status bar.
  2. Open the editor, pick a template and add boards for iPhone 6.3″, iPhone 6.9″ and iPad 13″. All boards share the same captions.
  3. Translate captions with AI, check the result in the store preview, and export one ZIP with every size and locale — optionally in fastlane deliver folder layout.

Frequently asked questions

What size should App Store screenshots be in 2026?

For iPhone, upload the Dynamic Island (medium) class: 1206 × 2622 px or 1179 × 2556 px in portrait. App Store Connect requires this class. If your app runs on iPad, also upload the 13-inch iPad class: 2064 × 2752 px or 2048 × 2732 px. Optionally add the 6.9-inch class (1320 × 2868, 1290 × 2796 or 1260 × 2736 px) so large iPhones get a native-resolution set.

How many screenshots can I upload to the App Store?

At least 1 and up to 10 screenshots per device size and per localization. The first three are the most important because they appear in search results when you have no app preview video.

Can App Store screenshots be PNG with transparency?

No. App Store Connect accepts .png, .jpg and .jpeg, but images can't include an alpha channel or transparency. Flatten PNGs onto an opaque background or export JPEG.

Do I need screenshots for every iPhone model?

No. Provide the required class (and the largest class you care about) and App Store Connect scales them down for smaller displays, as long as your UI is the same across sizes.

Can I use landscape screenshots?

Yes. Every iPhone and iPad class accepts the same resolutions rotated, for example 2622 × 1206 for the Dynamic Island (medium) class. Keep one orientation per set for a consistent gallery.

Why does App Store Connect say my screenshot dimensions are wrong?

The image is not exactly one of the accepted pixel sizes — even 1 px off is rejected — or it was exported at the wrong scale (e.g. 2x instead of 3x). Resize to an exact accepted size and re-export without alpha.
